3d modeller
a 3d modeller will be the department which designs all the characters, weapons or anything also you would see or interact with in a computer game and there are a number or different programs you could use to do this which could be 3ds max, Maya, Softimage and light wave which are all good used in the making of 3d models
3d models can be put into two different groups which are:
- · Solid - These models define the volume of the object they represent (like a rock). These are more realistic, but more difficult to build. Solid models are mostly used for nonvisual simulations such as medical and engineering simulations, and for specialized visual applications such as ray tracing and constructive solid geometry
- · Shell/boundary - these models represent the surface, e.g. the boundary of the object, not its volume (like an infinitesimally thin eggshell). These are easier to work with than solid models. Almost all visual models used in games and film are shell models.
to be a 3d modeller you need certain qualifications which are:

but you will also have a lot of responsibilities within a game company which could include being able to work to deadlines and being able to work in a team and to stay up to date with the new software.
- · Working knowledge of any of XSI / Maya / Zbrush / Mud box
- · Can understand 2D and 3D volume and size
- · Team player with excellent communication skills
- · Can handle criticism and deadlines
- · Ability to work under pressure
